Direct TV provides both a product and a service. They usually give you the satelite dish and a receiver, but you pay for whatever services you want like the NFL ticket.
They do a great job of catching the attention of a specific group of consumers for their service. Although it is a small market they are targeting, it offers an opening to provide other products and services once a customer relationship has been established.

i agree with. Its the same with cable as well.
